How Do You Spend a Sick Day At Home?

Well unfortunately I was hit - hit hard - with some sort of bug.  It started out as a sore throat, then a phlegmy cough, then achiness, then a headache.  You get the picture.  I felt SHITTY!

I decided to call in sick to work on Tuesday.  Hate calling in sick, and if it wasn't for the headache, I probably wouldn't have.

So besides sleeping 7 hours of the day - I didn't achieve too much.  At all.

Again on Wednesday I stayed home. I tried to watch some DVR'd TV.  Now this isn't the type of TV that you must devote 100% of your attention to.  This is the type of TV that you can have on while you are napping on the couch.

So - I caught up on a few episodes of:

Watched a few from last season and the first 3 from this season.  Not sure if this season is as good, but I guess they are developing the storyline still.

I LOVE this show.  I guess I have a soft spot for reality TV, but I really love the Bruce family.  Everyone can relate with their struggles.  Also, as bad as it sounds, it's refreshing to see kids having to some responsibility.  They aren't spoiled.  They pay for their "fun" things.  I think that's the way it should be.

Also watched some old:

Because it's awesome.

When you are home sick, what do you do?

Here Comes the Weekend

Just a few of the things I'm looking forward to this weekend:

October 20, 2011

Livin' on a Spare

It's Thursday - and Thursday is BOWLING NIGHT!  Woo hoo!!

I hope GTuck, Just Joe and Jenny Jenny bring it tonight!  We are currently sitting in 4th place with 2 weeks of bowling left.  We are hungry for another championship.  It can happen - or should I get cocky and say it WILL happen!

Then again, Thursday bowling isn't just about bowling.  It's about good friends, good times and good eats.

Bowling Thursday = To Die For

Review Wednesday

So we have a couple of things to review today.  First let's establish our rating scale:

Shitty (Poor)      Not Good (Fair)         Ok (Good)        Great (Very Good)        Too Die For (Awesome)

1.  Yesterday was my Birthday = TOO DIE FOR

Many people (family, friends, co-workers) made my birthday very special.  My kids got me adorable cards that made me laugh:

My girl takes after her momma :)

My boy - well - yeah he'd take the money :)

I had a wonderful lunch, shared with friends, at 2Booli where I indulged with a Tawook Wrap with extra garlic sauce.  I was stinky all afternoon - but it was so worth it.

For dinner, I went to Mitchell's Fish Market.  Had an amazing meal which included the Spinach Salad and the Shang Hai Seafood Sampler - Fresh Talapia, scallops and shrimp, steamed with ginger and scallions and served with sticky rice, spinach and rice wine soy sauce.  Can you say YUMMMM!

Then, for dessert, I got this bad boy (for free!!!).  “Sharkfin” Pie - The original. Butter fudge ice cream, honey roasted peanuts, fudge, peanut butter, Oreo cookie crust.

What the description doesn't say is that it is enough ice cream to feed 4 people!

2.  The Ides of March = OK

Well, although it wasn't hard to tell they were in Detroit, the landmarks they used were not very identifiable to me.  The storyline itself wasn't bad - it actually had some twists and kept me guessing what was going to happen.  The major cast players (George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei) did an excellent job.  Politics are very dry to me - but this movie was more about the "dirty" behind-the-scenes campaigning.  Definitely was worth the FREE movie ticket I got from my Entertainment coupon book.

Thank you to everyone who shared my day and made it so special.  Love you all.

Movie Tuesday

My "posse" and I go to a movie and dinner every Tuesday.  It's something I look forward to every week.  When we started this, AMC was running $5 movie night (every weeknight).  Well we are now paying an "outrageous" $7.50, but I feel like I'm a movie connoisseur since I see just about every new movie.  This week we are seeing The Ides of March with George Clooney and Ryan Gosling.

I'm not the biggest Clooney fan, however, I do love me some Ryan Gosling :)

I'm intrigued by this movie because it was shot here in our lovely State of Michigan!  Parts were shot in Ann Arbor and in Clawson.  Hopefully I'll recognize some spots.

Oh Sequined Sweatshirt - How I Want Thee

Ok Express - you've got me wanting this little number. I've stalked you online, and in the store. Oh how I want to take you home. My only problem with you is that you are bound to snag on something and fall apart before my eyes. How sad a day that would be.

I'm sure I'll be taking my chances on you soon.
